| A Marine Remembers
by
Samuel Rimler - Published by N. Charles Sylvan Co.
ISBN 1-886-385-00-9 The book I'm
recommending is "A Marine Remembers," which is the memoir of Samuel
Rimler, who emigrated to the US from Logov, Poland in 1920 and
joined the Marines as a teenager in 1930. In these vignettes, he
describes what it was like to be a New York Jew in the Marines when
there were only 17,000 men in the Corps, most of them Southerners.
His memoir takes us through those years and then through his service
as a Chief Petty Officer in the Navy doing convoy duty in the North
Atlantic during World War II.

| Rites of Passage : Odyssey of a Grunt
by Robert Peterson The story of a
grunt from start to finish, very graphic, it changed my outlook on
life and war. I hate reading but once I started on this book i
couldn't put it down, literally. I'm just a 16 yr old kid but
this book matured me and made me think.
